How did you enter the world of shoemaking?
The art of shoemaking has been in our family for three generations now. My father first coaxed me into working in the trade when I was just a young man and in need of some spare cash. After I repaired my first pair of shoes, I quickly learnt the tools of the trade and initially became a designer.
What were the first pair of shoes you made?
Growing up in socialist Hungary, American fashion was hugely popular among the youth. At the time, cowboy boots were a major trend and without the money to buy a pair, I decided to make a pair for myself.

How did you master your trade?
While I completed some practical courses as a student, the large majority of my learning came, of course, primarily from my parents. However, it was my participation in competitions that really helped me develop my expertise as they prompted my research, study and learning of innovative techniques.
